#salvationarmy great finds! A wooden carving that was labeled as a good luck charm was screaming "buy me Ford!" I've been blessed to have opportunities to visit #africa: #southafrica (several times), #nigeria, #botswana, and #zimbabwe. Also bought 4 ties @ 99 cents each, including two that were 100% silk. Each tie will be worn a single time and then used as class prizes.Imported wood carvings and silk ties help keep the concept of global supply chains fresh in my mind. To be truly fit for purpose, sustainable & context specific solutions to security threats deriving from climate stress must be grounded in the dynamics of each context & the unique needs & insights in their varied social identities. Harnessing the valuable contributions of diverse stakeholders & lived experiences is critical for climate adaptation to be sustainable.Months of sustained engagement along the Pokot, Marakwet & Turkana borders by International Alert with the support of Sida is bearing fruit. This week, elders from Elgeyo Marakwet & West Pokot agreed on practical actions to resolve long standing conflicts along the shared borders of Chesogon, Cheptulel and Tot by1. Agreeing to take collective action to facilitate return of Internally displaced persons along their borders & resumption of learning at the abandoned cheptulel school2. Agreeing to communal grazing in the common rangelands of Kaben3. Supporting community policy across the two communitiesOvercoming differences &converging/ talking deep into the night, the conviction & will to make this work was obvious. Using Climate Action as a neutral Entry point for peacebuilding, we are committed to walking this journey with these communities & joining them in celebrating small wins and big ones too.
