Bobby Jones' Mother Dies At Residence Mrs. Robert P. Jones of 2632 Peachtree Road died at her home Saturday, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Jones had been a resident of Atlanta more than 60 years.

Born in Athens. she was the former Clara Merrick Thomas. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bailey Thomas.

She was an Episcopalian. She was the widow of Col. Robert P. Jones, a prominent Atlanta lawyer who in 1956, and the mother. famed golfer nor and lawyer Robert Tyre (Bobby) Jones.

Funeral services will be private. Survivors besides her son inelude grandchildren, Mrs. William H. Black, Greensboro, N.C.. and Robert T.

Jones III, Pittsfield, and Mrs. Carl Hood Atlanta; and five greatgrandchildren. Nelson Given Jaycee Award Jack Nelson, Atlanta Constitution reporter, was among the 10 Outstanding Young Men of 1960 receiving honors Saturday from the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce. An awards congress at the annual mid-year national Jaycees president's banquet in Kansas City was the site of the ceremonies.

MR. NELSON, 31, was named to the elite group for his series to expose the shocking conditions at the Georgia mental hospital in Milledgeville, which won him many honors, including the Pulitzer Prize. He lives in Decatur. Howard Club To Organize Here Monday A Howard College Club for Georgia will be formally organized Monday night at 7 p.m. at the Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church.

The Howard Club, with statewide membership, will be open to friends as well as alumni. Dr. Leslie Wright, president of the BirDr. Leslie Wright mingham, College, will speak. Accompanying him will be Dr.

Portrait Exhibition To Open An' 'exhibition of portraits by Russian-born Constantin Chatov opens at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Dzirkalis Gallery at 333 Peachtree to continue through Jan. 31. This is his first exhibition in Georgia for the artist, whose birthplace was in Georgia, Russia.

In addition to painting murals and the portraits of many Atlantans. Mr. Chatov has also painted celes rities such as Ava Gardner, soprano Nell Rankin and Gov. Robert Meyner of New Jersey, After Sunday's opening reception, the gallery will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Harbor Strike Talks Recess for Weekend NEW YORK. Jan. 14 (UPDRepresentatives of striking tug and ferry crewmen and management of 11 railroads recessed Saturday until Monday without reaching a settlement. B. Rush, Jonesboro, and several nieces and nephews. Man Dies In Parking Lot Here Isaac Glenn Ergle, 54, of Rte. 1, Smyrna, was found dead Saturday in a downtown Atlanta parking lot. Homicide detectives who investigated said Mr.

Ergle was found lying on his back, a suitcase on body. He apparently had been dead some hours. An abrasion on his right hand appeared to have been caused in a fall. according to Detectives J. F.

Miller, former general agent of the Atlanta office of the Norfolk Western Railways died Friday in Pittsburgh, where he had been recently transferred by the railroad. Police in Pittsbrugh said Mr. Miller, 43, was found dead in his hotel room, a shotgun beside the body. They said a note was found expressing concern for his wife, who was in Atlanta. Mr.

Miller, who had lived in Atlanta for 14 months, recently purchased a home at 5480 Glenridge Drive, NE, here. He was a member of the Atlanta Athletic Club and the Transportation Club of Atlanta. He was a Baptist. The funeral will be held in Roanoke, where Mr. Miller's mother and a sister, Mrs.

F. Cook mother of long-time Atlanta School Board President Ed S. Cook, died Saturday in Charlotte, N.C., at the home of a daughter. Mrs. Cook, 90, has been in Charlotte for about eight months.

She was living with a daughter, Mrs. Charles Coleman Sr. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Union Church in Rockdale County. Rev.

Lamar Watkins will officiate and burial will be in the churchyard. Mrs. Cook was member of St. Paul Methodist Church in Atlanta. Born in Rockdale County, she was the former Minnie Rebecca Mann.

Mrs. Cook came here as a bride and lived in Atlanta 69 years. She was the sister of Joseph Mann of Stockbridge, a former member of the Georgia House of Representatives and the Georgia Senate. Ed S. Cook now is president emeritus of the Atlanta school board.

Maude Watkins Williamson, 84, 1111 Old Powers Ferry Road, died Saturday night in an Atlanta hospital. She had been ill about 14 years. Mrs. Williamson was the mother of John W. Williamson, editorial art director of The Atlanta Constitution.
