Too much P2W and grinding, play a different game

it is way too P2W. And the game has way too much grinding for a kids game that is mostly played in school. the actual questions are decent, but the game is bad. Also, to change your kids grade from the parent account, you have to pay for a membership. i would say that they are almost as money hungry as EA. and lastly, normal things like evolving your pets and getting certain pets are blocked by a paywall, a better game is blooket, it has quizzes on a bunch of stuff but there is no P2W. also a limit on how many coins you can get daily.

The rise and fall of Prodigy.

Let me paint a picture, it's a normal day in your grade 2 class and the teacher brings out the chromebooks, and give you a username and password, and give you a website URL. You so as you're asked and you log onto the amazing world of Prodigy, where an amazing awaits. There are normal human wizards, elemental mages, and a somewhat comedic villain. There was a membership but it had very little in it and you really didn't need it. Now what if I told you you're at least three years too late, likely more, and what was once a varied and beautiful world where you needed to heal by doing a math problem at a crystal, and could fight monsters that ranged from adorable to awesome, was now a game that went from the broad audience of basically anybody to the younger demographics. Every monster essentially became a glorified cloud, or an anthropomorphic animal (an animal that appears with humanlike qualities such as standing up or speaking, can be done well but this is not a case where that happened.) And the membership, don't get me started on that. What was once a small selection of items you had to buy at shops now became 75% of everything in the game, and any basic monster catching RPG mechanics beyond levelling up and learning moves were locked behind that figurative gate. And on the topic of moves, there used to be many of them in a wheel that did not spin, and you clicked on the one you wanted, such as conjure which could launch anything from a rock to a mushroom (which I believe certain things conjured did different amounts of damage, and it got a laugh or two from my friend group,) then after the update, it all just vanished. You kept your progress, but chances are half your stuff was thrown behind the paywall, which had been expanding the whole time, but it was more noticeable now. You also lost those spells and got distributed some cool rings for some new spells, and wands now made a four spell. I didn't find much trouble with it but it was annoying. And the predatory marketing combined with this switch towards a younger demographic with its monsters reduced to thing's that will catch the eye of a young child. The membership was also advertised after ever single battle, and that is no mere exaggeration, and after the membership ad, you get the loot, which often contained a wand or piece of clothing that looked nice but had this golden "M" badge on it. This badge indicated you have to buy it's 59 or so dollar subscription, known as the membership, to use it. And summed up, prodigy went from an excellent learning game with enjoyable parts and some humorous moments within it, to a soulless corporate project which attempts to retain some of it's old charm, but with enough consumerism to tick off all but the most resilient kid, so if you do let a student play this, teach them financial literacy and that they are not to purchase the membership. Extra note: The game chat is a simple one, as it has a bunch of pre-made messages you can send, which is fine for a children's game, but there is one issue... One of the messages is saying how great it is to be a member, and you don't have to be one to say it. Although this feature doesn't see much use in the first place, it is disgusting to allow kids to become billboards in a P2W (pay to win) game.

Prodigy has Ruined the game for OG's

Why prodigy has ruined there experience:Ever since I was in elementary school prodigy has been my favorite, but after there recent update to the game, that changed. When they got rid of a lot of items, they didn't even bother to think of all the people who had spent there childhood playing and even PAYING to get them. Then Prodigy just says "lets trash it ALL." so now I, and many others are left with items that SUCK. Also why even did they think to change things like your character and the way you walk like it is totally dumb now. So I don't think ill ever play the game again. So if your a prodigy OG and your reading this, Don't even bother playing again. And did I mention that to even get good at the game you have to pay a MEMBERSHIP! why even Waste your money on one of these things just give it away then at least your doing some good in the world.

Was great, has become horrendous

This was an awesome game, with great, classic rpg graphics. It had fun adventures, and it taught math to children that had a hard time concentrating. After this update, though, the graphics became absolutely horrendous, looking like a low-budget children's show from these years. The parents' reviews aren't seeing how ugly the graphics and game design have become. It's extremely hard to play this game without looking at the ugly characters. Please bring the old design back, with the pixelated characters that didn't have weird movements and designs. Also, this game has started to promote the membership that you apparently need to properly play this game. Before, the membership was just an add-on, if a child wanted extra outfits, wands, etc, but now you can't open three wands without a membership icon. It was a great game, but it's truly become terrible.

Too much pay to win.

when i was younger i played this game ALOT, but now that i come back to look at the game 5 years later its immensely disappointing how much ads for "membership" and i lost mine a year or so ago because i asked my grandfather to stop buying me this for a birthday present. I only recommend to people that either explain to there kids how and why there are so many ads for membership, OR if your a teacher only recommend this game to kids that understand that it is pay to win.

It's nearly impossible to play, it just wants a membership from you

This game is okay, but what really stinks is all it asks for the entire time is a membership. You basically can't play the game without one, all it wants is your money. Literally to evolve some pets you need a membership, it's ridiculous! Other than that I suppose the game is okay, but I wouldn't recommend playing it.

Great game! miss the old version though way to P2W and P2P

love the game, fun for kids, gets difficult over time depending on your academic level and gets easier on questions you are struggling with. you can get tips, hints and are given resources to help make your answer. I miss the old version though. its really pay to win and pay to play because you need to get prodigy's special thing called "member" that's like 60 $ a year. you have a maximum of 20 pets you can capture which can assist you in your journey. they have different abilities and types that are confusing at first but you gets used to it. you get clothes from doing quests that you can use to customize you character but again you need member so you can wear some certain clothes. same things with wands and buddies. buddies are little pets that follow you around and don't affect the game at all. as they are only cosmetic. some spaces are locked to non-members and you get extra xp for completing quests that is again strictly members only. you can evolve your pets to make them stronger but again you get 1 free evolution and then no more evolving. there is special items you can get that allows you to have increased mobility again members only and most houses are members only. they shove it in your face as well because you get a special name tag that says you got member, you get the flashy chests while others are stuck with a garbage looking wooden chest, members get fancy pets and free money every month for member. they shove ads in your face and it is flooded with paywalls, surprised the game isn't banned from school districts for making children walking wallets, you can get special pets by buying the special action figures of them and I always wanted chill and char but then I looked, they don't make them any more and when they used to they were like 150$ for a red and blue dragon. characters are fun but they also sometimes give items that are blocked by paywalls, rather would spend money on EA games. made it for 3 year olds because my sister started when she was 3 and loved the game. this game is ruined due to the paywalls. you can fight enemy players but nobody responds nowadays, game is buggy and incomplete for OGs. asks you before you play if you are playing from home or school. home has access to everything school is locked to specific places and zones like nobody is going to say they are playing from school where they are limited. better characters but the player looks like chewed up dog poop with organs. most stuff is pay to play and pay to win but in all its a fun game that entertained me for years, though not fun anymore and should be stayed away from from teachers

The very definition of consumerism

Absolutely terrible! I was forced to play this in school in third grade and I found out about this site so I decided to write a review. To start, I have no idea why everyone likes it. It's a heaping pile of flaming Garbage that wants your money. In terms of teaching its a bad way to learn math. All it does is tell children to buy a premium membership which does nothing except let you buy a new outfit. And when I say it tells you to buy a membership, it tells you to buy a membership. Every single npc has something to say about it, there's about 3 things you can buy that aren't members only. Many events required it, and I really don't ever want to have to play this game again because of it. I said it's ages 2+ because it feels like something for a preschooler. The terrible design and gameplay make it so even a chimpanzee could beat the game. It's just endlessly fighting predictable and boring NPCs to no end. I can't find any situation where this teaches math better than just making kids solve a few problems and then giving them a recess. Overall, it wants you to pay them money, not to teach kids math.
